Large Austin Company Has Relocated to North Texas

E2open has moved from Austin to Addison.

E2open, a technology firm specializing in supply chain management software, has quietly moved its headquarters from Austin to North Texas. The company, with a market capitalization of nearly $800 million on the New York Stock Exchange, announced the shift in a securities filing last October, confirming that its headquarters relocated to Addison, just north of Dallas, effective September 16, 2024. While the company has referred to the Dallas area as its new base since the move, it has not responded to inquiries for further details.

E2open now occupies space at Greenhill Towers, located off Midway Road, a few blocks west of the Dallas North Tollway.

Although the move had not been publicly reported before, E2open has had a presence in Addison since 2004, having moved into its 11,600-square-foot office at 14135 Midway Road in 2020. Records from the Dallas Central Appraisal District show that the company’s business personal property value at this location grew significantly, from $95,430 in 2023 to $243,020 in 2024, suggesting recent upgrades to the office space.

Details about the number of employees working in Addison and any plans for future growth at the new headquarters remain unclear. As of February 2024, E2open employed 3,916 full-time workers globally, with the majority based in the Asia-Pacific region.

During an October 9 earnings call, E2open’s Chief Financial Officer Marje Armstrong mentioned that the company was working on a plan to reduce facilities costs by “rationalizing the office footprint inherited from past mergers and acquisitions” and adjusting to post-COVID flexible work arrangements that have led to lower office utilization.

Founded in 2000, E2open offers supply chain software that connects over 480,000 manufacturers, logistics, and distribution companies to a network tracking more than 16 billion transactions annually. The company moved its headquarters to Austin in 2015 and went public in 2021 following a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).

E2open reported $151.7 million in revenue for its fiscal third quarter ending November 30. For the full fiscal year ending in April 2024, the company earned $634.6 million in revenue but posted a net loss of nearly $1.2 billion, with a gross profit of $317.7 million.

As of January 16, shares of E2open Parent Holdings Inc. were trading at about $2.57 on the New York Stock Exchange, down from a 52-week high of $5.08.

The move to Addison adds another name to the growing list of public companies now based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It also represents one of the few major corporate relocations to the region in recent months, following a slowdown in such moves during 2023 and 2024.

In Addison, another software company, Topaz Labs LLC, recently announced plans to expand its headquarters. The company will take up a new 28,200-square-foot office at the Village on the Parkway in May, with plans to add approximately 130 jobs and invest at least $2.5 million into the space.
