Dallas Police to Close Several Deep Ellum Streets This Weekend for Safety Measures

DALLAS — Dallas police will be closing several streets in the Deep Ellum area on Friday and Saturday nights, according to a recent announcement.

Starting at 10 p.m. on both nights, Elm and Main Streets, along with several side streets off these thoroughfares, will be closed. Additionally, Malcolm X Boulevard will become one-way, allowing only northbound traffic.

Barricades will be set up at the intersections of the closed streets to direct traffic and maintain smooth flow in and out of the area, police said.

While this weekend’s closures are set, police will assess whether to extend or modify street closures in future weekends. The closures are meant to minimize disruptions for residents, businesses, and visitors while ensuring safety and efficient traffic management, according to the police department.

This weekend is expected to see a surge of party-goers due to the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, including the annual parade on Greenville Avenue, which is anticipated to bring large crowds across the city.

Dallas police have previously implemented periodic street closures in Deep Ellum as part of ongoing safety measures following several incidents of crime in the area over the years.
