THE COLONY, Texas – A North Texas couple is facing multiple criminal charges after investigators discovered animals living in horrific conditions inside their home in The Colony. On Tuesday, police arrested Brandy Bristol and Jeremy Bristol.
Both have been charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty, each a third-degree felony. If convicted, they could each face up to 10 years in prison for each charge.
88 Animals Seized in The Colony:
The Backstory: Earlier this month, The Colony Animal Services rescued a total of 88 animals from a home located on the 4800 block of Alta Oaks Lane. The animals seized included 24 dogs, 45 cats, 12 reptiles, and seven mice.
The dogs varied in size, from small breeds to as large as a bull mastiff. Among the cats, some were kittens. The reptiles included snakes, turtles, and tortoises.
Sgt. James Barfield of The Colony Police Department, who was one of the officers who responded to the scene, described the conditions inside the home as “deplorable.” He added, “They were some of the worst conditions I’ve ever seen inside a house. Pretty much every room of the house had animals in it, and they were not being cared for properly.”
