NORTH TEXAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – AAA Texas giving back to its members who are struggling to make ends meet amid the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

“Every policy holder with AAA Texas who has auto insurance with the policy in effect from March 16, 2020 to May 15, 2020 will receive a 20% policy refund check,” said the agency’s Joshua Zuber.

Member will not have to take any actions to get the refund, which should be received by the end of May.

Recipients can thank the COVID-19-related stay-at-home orders at the state and local levels for the cash.

Zuber said because less people are driving because of the restrictions, which lead to a decrease in claims.

While many are staying at home to remain safe, some like essential workers, first responders and medical personnel can’t.

AAA Texas is providing free roadside assistance to first responders and medical personnel whether or not they’re a member.

“It will help these critical workers if they have a vehicle breakdown, battery problem or flat tire. Medical personnel or first responders who need emergency roadside assistance during this crisis can simply call 1 (800) 400-4222” said Zuber.

The agency will also provide a free tow of up to 7 miles.

AAA Texas is also donating $1 million to United Way, which continues to provide relief for millions of Americans hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak nationwide.
