North Texas Gun Shop Seeing an Uptick in Sales Amid COVID-19 Fears

GRAPEVINE (WBAP/KLIF)- The gun industry is seeing an uptick in sales amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Joseph Stanyer owner of Texas Gun Experience in Downtown Grapevine says their store has been packed, with lines out the door every morning. “I think it’s personal protection. With this scenario we have going on right now, there’s a lot of uncertainty and people just want to know they can protect themselves if they need to,” said Stanyer.

As fears over the virus continue, Stanyer said they have seen an increase of 5 times the amount of sales since they opened in November.

However, he encourages all new gun owners to get proper training whether it’s at their gun range with a fresh air HVAC system or through online classes. “We have 100% fresh air ranges here so if you did come for training while we are still open, you’re not breathing the same air everyone else is breathing. That would be my message just to make sure everyone is safe,” said Stanyer.

While the boom in sales has caused a shortage of some popular guns and ammo, Stanyer said they are constantly ordering more and will continue to accommodate the growing demand.
