FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)-Congresswoman Kay Granger visits Fort Worth to present a federal update at a Leaders in Government Luncheon hosted by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.
The event sold out with over 300 people in attendance. Granger is a leader in national defense and global security and has received numerous honors for her leadership in national defense issues. She addressed border security efforts and says when visiting the Southern Border, she learned that families were paying thousands of dollars for people to bring their children into the United States to keep them safe.
“When that happened went to those countries; El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala and put money into them to hopefully to make them safe enough to stop that from happening and address this issue,” she said. “The leadership in those countries couldn’t do that…and that’s where we are at right now,” she said.
Granger says we now have 675,000 people who have been detained at the southern border. She says congress has increased funding for more border patrols and they are trying to fix loop holes. “Changes in the law and funding need to happen to keep us going forward,” she said.
Though Granger was at a Fort Worth event, she did not touch on any local issues.
