IRVING – WBAP/KLIF – Irving police say the mother of a baby believed born inside the restroom of an Applebee’s Restaurant on North Belt Line Road Friday night could face several possible charges, including murder, if an autopsy determines the child was born alive before being left in a restroom garbage can.
Irving Police are asking for tips or information from anyone who suspects they may know who the mother of the dead baby is. They are collecting video recordings of the area involved, and believe the mother left the restaurant about a half hour before the body was discovered by employees cleaning the restroom. Public Information Officer Robert Reeves tells us officials recommend the employees who underwent such a traumatic experience receive counselling. Applebee’s closed that restaurant for the remainder of Friday as police investigated.
So far, no racial or sex identification of the child has been released. Officials are asking for tips to be called in to the Irving Police Department, or, alternatively, placed anonymously by entering the information at “[email protected]”
