
GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF) – A Grand Prairie Police Officer is dead following a crash on the Bush Turnpike Friday. The officer was running radar when he was hit.
Grand Prairie Police say Officer A. J. Castaneda was killed.
All northbound lanes of the road are shut down near Dickey Road as police investigate the crash.
Police Chief Steve Dye says the department as well as the community are hurting. Police say the driver is a 17-year-old boy and did not appear to be driving impaired. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
This is the 3rd Grand Prairie officer killed in the line of duty. Sergeant Gregory Hunter was killed in 2004, Officer Lyndon King was killed in 1982.
