FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The 41st Fort Worth Cowtown Marathon is this weekend.
Director Mark Flores says they’re estimating 25,000 runners from 49 different states 11 different countries.
“It brings in quite a financial impact to the city of Fort Worth, a 10.4 million dollar economic impact,” Flores said.
Runners have a choice of a 10k, 5k and a kids 5k (Saturday morning) or the Ultra Marathon, Full and Half Marathon (Sunday morning).
Among those runners, Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price running the half marathon, it’ll be her 26th year participating!
“I’ve been training, working on it since October/November,” Price said.
Price said this race has a lot of history behind it, is a fun and promotes health and wellness in the city of Fort Worth.
“To watch it grow and see the impact it’s made on the city especially as we work on healthy city initiatives… it’s a great tool for us to be generating that kind of impact,” Price said.
Proceeds benefit the CALF (Children’s Activities for Life and Fitness) program, a non-profit to provide running shoes and fitness opportunities for underprivileged kids in the community.
