FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — Former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin has been indicted on a felony assault charge stemming from an incident earlier this year where he reportedly broke his girlfriend’s jaw.
From an interview with WFAA-TV earlier this year, Shabrika Bailey says the incident escalated after she refused to show him a text message she had received.
“He goes into a choke and was just choking me [while] I’m trying to calm him down,” Bailey said. “I just couldn’t. I just woke up in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor.”
She also said when Boykin took her to the hospital, he told her to make up a story about how she sustained her injuries.
Boykin has denied her story and says it cost him his job with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a backup quarterback until the team released him in March.

Boykin has had several run-ins with the law, including an incident the previous March where he was a passenger in a car that backed into a nightclub in Uptown Dallas. Boykin was charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana. He also punched a police officer in San Antonio in January, 2016 when the team was set to play in the Alamo Bowl.
