FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News) — Frisco voters will get to make a decision on its tax rate this November.
The Frisco ISD school board unanimously approved Monday night putting what is ultimately a two cent decrease in property taxes on the ballot.
Sean Heatley is a co-chair on the facilities and programs evaluation committee and says the decrease would come via a tax swap.
“They get the two cent reduction to homeowners, enabling us to increase our operating and decrease the [interest and sinking] items,” Heatley said.
A $691 million bond proposal has also been approved for November’s ballot. The last time Frisco voters took up a tax ratification election was 2016, when they voted against it.
The money would go toward things like maintenance, a fine arts center, athletics renovations, and possibly new schools.
“We’ve had committees and different groups meeting over this two year period helping prioritize and making sure the ask is as best it can be in aligning with the community,” Heatley said.
