WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) — President Trump’s son-in-law, White House adviser Jared Kushner, will arrive in North Texas Friday to promote new legislation aimed at revamping the national correctional system.
In what’s being called a surprising bipartisan agreement a congressional committee has approved a bill to reduce the rate of repeat offenders by creating rehabilitation programs for low-risk inmates. The bill is the result of Texas Senator John Cornyn’s desire to save taxpayer dollars and ease overcrowding in the nation’s prisons. It would also allow well-behaved inmates to earn credit toward early release.
Kushner and Cornyn will tour the Seagoville Federal Correctional Institution. Mark Inch, the director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, will join them.
