DALLAS, TX (WBAP/KLIF News) – Martin Luther King Jr. would have been 89 years old today, as DFW commemorates his birthday with events all across North Texas.
The Dallas MLK Jr. Day Parade steps off at 10am from MLK Blvd. at Holmes St., ending at Fair Park. The event also includes a community fair and candlelight ceremony.
In Fort Worth, the 33rd annual parade and rally takes place in downtown Sundance Square beginning with the rally at 10 am followed by the parade at 11.
In Grand Prairie, the parade begins at 10am, dubbed “a day on – not a day off,” reflecting on the MLK Day of Service.
The Irving NAACP Irving-Carrollton chapter hosts a free spaghetti luncheon in honor of the civil rights icon. in addition to lunch, guests can enjoy special guest speakers.
In Mesquite today, a community event honoring King starts at 10 am at the Mesquite Arts Center on N. Galloway Ave.
