Described only as an older man, he confirmed to police last night that he had approached the girls but told police he “had no ill intent” when he stopped his SUV in front of a house where the girls were playing and asked them if they wanted to pet his dog.

The man later returned, but drove off when one of the parents stepped outside.

Investigators tracked down the man tuesday afternoon after receiving information about his red SUV.
