Frisco (WBAP/KLIF) – The NFL is using language about Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones that may be setting the stage for a lengthy legal battle.
The league sent Jones’ attorney a letter yesterday, calling his actions in recent weeks “detrimental to the best interests of the league.” It’s the same language used in a clause in the NFL’s bylaws that allows owners to band together and force another owner to sell their team.
Jones has threatened to sue the NFL and a handful of owners for wanting to extend Commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract. He’s been unhappy with how Goodell has handled the Ezekiel Elliott suspension and how owners want to extend Goodell’s contract a year ahead of it expiring.
