Custody Hearing for Sister of Slain Toddler

UPDATE 11:30a –  Attorneys for both Sini and Wesley Matthews asked for another delay in the hearing to regain custody of their 4 year old biological child.  Today’s hearing lasted just 10 minutes and new hearing has been scheduled for November 29th.

Wesley Mathews’ civil attorney, David Kleckner says they need time to put a case together and prove he should not lose his parental rights.  Kleckner says Mathews isn’t asking to visit the daughter, given that he’s behind bars…but that he wants the girl’s mother, Sini Matthews, to receive custody while his criminal case plays out.  Kleckner also says the next hearing, which is set for the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, should be the last and likely won’t be delayed.  He also indicated that Wesley Matthews would be at that next hearing.
