Body Found in Trunk After High Speed Chase in Kaufman County

FORNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) — Kaufman County Sheriff’s deputies found a body in the back of a trunk after arresting a man following a high speed chase.

The incident happened Sunday after someone called to report a road rage situation, where 33-year-old Freddy Gilbert reportedly pulled up next to their car and fired at least one shot. That happened around 10:30 Sunday morning. He crashed near Forney following a chase along I-20 close to 11:00 am. Police arrested Gilbert for evading arrest, but more charges could come due to the body being found in the trunk.

“As the investigation proceeds I would anticipate another charge at some point,” Kaufman County Investigator Jolie Stewart said.

Gilbert was also charged for possessing drugs in a detention facility. Authorities found marijuana and cocaine on his person while they were booking him into jail. The body was sent to the medical examiner to determine identification and cause of death.
