DFW Metroplex Sends Unified Bid for Amazon’s Second Headquarters

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Today is the deadline for Amazon to receive proposals from cities nationwide to be the home of a second headquarters and cities within the Metroplex sent a unified proposal to the company.

Dallas, Fort Worth, McKinney and other North Texas cities are all bidding but Brandom Genglebach with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce said the region as a whole is extremely attractive.

“We have such diversity within North Texas and DFW and that is what we wanted to convey. We’re fun. We’re unique and I think the video did a good job,” he said.

This bidding war is still in it’s beginning stages but Gengleback said officals are hopeful.

“I would put us up against anyone at the top of the list. Our goal is to make it to the next phase in the process. So, we’re not going to win the project with this submittal. We’re wanting to get into the yes pile,” he said.

Genglebach said it was important to highlight what each city within the Metroplex has to offer.

“I think you could see from the video is that what we’re trying to convey is that we have something for everyone here,” he said.

Cities like Chicago and Toronto are also in the bidding war.

The company said it plans to invest more than $5 billion and bring as many as 50,000  jobs to its new headquarters.
