Two Plano Parents Face Sentencing for Reportedly Lying to Feds About Sons’ Involvement in ISIS

PLANO — Two parents in Plano will be sentenced on Thursday for allegedly lying to the feds about their kids’ involvement with ISIS.

According to court documents obtained by the Dallas Morning News, Mohammod and Sumaiya Ali told FBI agents their two sons were peaceful and had never said they were connected to a terrorist organization.

But investigators obtained the parents’ e-mails, which show conversations between the family where the sons Arman and Omar say they’re in Syria and that they need to fight or kill those who wage war against Allah.

The parents reached two separate plea deals that would give them probation instead of the maximum eight-year prison term.

A judge will make a decision on the deal Thursday.
