DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says if a player disrespects the flag, he won’t play.

He was asked again about players kneeling during the national anthem after Vice President Mike Pence walked out of a game in Indianapolis Sunday after a handful of Indianapolis Colts protested during the anthem.

“If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won’t play. Period,” Jones said after the Cowboys’ loss to Green Bay on Sunday. “We’re going to respect the flag, and I’m going to create the perception of it. And we have.”

He went on to say that the Vice President had every right to leave the game and express his views on the matter, and that the NFL should look at its rules to make sure they aren’t disrespecting the flag.

“We know that there is a serious debate in this country about those issues, but there is no question in my mind that the National Football League and the Dallas Cowboys are going to stand up for the flag,” Jones said. “Just so we’re clear.”
