DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — While the Dallas Cowboys haven’t yet directly responded to President Trump’s comments about players kneeling during the national anthem, owner Jerry Jones did make his opinions known at a gala last week celebrating the 100th anniversary of Forbes Magazine.
“I do not think the place to express yourself in society is as we recognize the American flag and all the people that have made this great country the very opportunity for us to even be there in front of the nation,” Jones told Fox Business’ Cheryl Casone. “So that’s not the place to do anything other than honor the flag and everybody that’s given up a little for it.”
Dozens of players protested the national anthem at NFL games Sunday, from kneeling to staying in the locker room during pregame festivities. The protests came in response to President Trump’s comments over the weekend, saying players who kneel during the anthem should be fired.
It’s unknown what any Cowboys players will do during their game Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cowboys and Cardinals play at 7:30 pm Monday night in Arizona. The game can be seen on ESPN.
