POTTSBORO (WBAP/KLIF News) – A large fire and multiple explosions destroyed a dock at the Highport Marina at Lake Texoma Wednesday morning.
The fire started at the U Dock and quickly spread, damaging up to 20 boats in the process.
Five departments responded and fought the blaze from boats of their own.
No one was injured. The marina issued a statement that said the dock is not salvageable and that it’s not yet clear what caused the initial fire.
The statement read in part:
“You may be aware that there was a major fire on U Dock this morning. The good news is that everyone is safe with no injuries. Unfortunately, several of the boats on that dock have been impacted, and we are contacting each of the U Dock slip members to discuss relocation and repair of their vessels. We will up date you once we have a plan to address the replacement of U Dock.”
There are reports that the fire may have caused up to $1 million dollars in damages.
