According to the Dallas Police Department, Senior Corporal Dale Ordogne was responding to a burglary on South Westmoreland Road Monday when his vehicle was struck by a white pick up truck. Deputy Chief Albert Martinez said the impact sent the Officer’s car on to a 12-inch metal gas pipe that hovered a creek.

“When the momentum stopped and it lost balance, the vehicle fell off of the pipe and dropped 24-feet into the creek,” Deputy Chief Martinez said.

Witnesses ran toward the Officer and helped rescue him from the vehicle.

“We could have lost another Officer,” Martinez said. “I’m very thankful to the citizens for being able to get him out and get him to the hospital.”

Officer Ordogne suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say between four and six people ran from the pickup truck after the crash and haven’t been found. Residents of the area have told police they believe the suspects have been involved in a number of burglaries. Anyone with information about the crash or the suspects is asked to come forward to police.
