Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide at North Lake College

IRVING (WBAP/KLIF News) – North Lake College is still under lockdown after two people were killed in what Irving police said appears to be a murder suicide.

Investigators said the shooter appears to be one of the deceased.

The situation started just before noon, when the Dallas County Community College campus was placed on lockdown after reports of shots fired.

The school immediately sent a notice to students and staff on Twitter to warn them of the dangerous situation.

Gina Parker had a family member who was in class when the shooting occurred.

“When you have a loved one that is sending you text that they can hear shots and they’re hiding, it’s just very scary and its unfortunate that it’s happening so much every day,” she said.

Parker said her relative was about to go into the building where the shooting occurred but went into the library at the last minute.

Just before 1 p.m., the Irving police department said there was no continuing threat a the school but officers had conducted a secondary search to make sure the campus was safe.

North Lake College cancelled classes for today and Thursday. Campus police are working with the Irving Police Department in the investigation.
