DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — For the third time in a week, federal prosecutors have handed over new evidence in the corruption trial of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price.
It didn’t sit well with the judge the first time prosecutors presented new evidence, and the same can be said again this time, with the judge saying she’s beginning to lose confidence in their ability to present evidence in a timely manner.
The evidence could delay the government’s ability to rest its case, which was supposed to happen last week before its first blunder. After that incident, the prosecution’s case was expected to finish Wednesday. Jurors were not in the room when the government told District Judge Barbara Lynn about the new evidence.
With the new documents, Price’s attorneys will need to sift through them to determine if they need to re-call any previous witnesses to the stand again.
Price is facing 11 charges of tax evasion, bribery, and mail fraud. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
