Second Baylor Football Staffer Fired In Just Over a Month

WACO (WBAP/KLIF News) — Baylor has fired its second football staffer in a little over a month for misconduct not related to football.

The university parted ways with associate director of football operations DeMarkco Butler this week for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a teenager. A school offocial told KWTX in Waco the teenager was an adult under Texas statute.

The athletics department declined comment, other than to confirm Butler’s departure.

Earlier this month, Baylor fired strength coach Brandon Washington after he was arrested and charged for soliciting a prostitute.

This all comes months following a series of allegations claiming the football program covered up sexual assaults committed by football players. Butler is the second staffer to be fired by the university under new head coach Matt Rhule.
