Had Enough Turkey Yet? If You’re a Hunter, the Answer’s Probably “No”

gobble-gobble

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – By now, many people are probably getting tired of turkey leftovers, but not turkey hunters.  It’s fall turkey season, and Big Billy Kinder, host of Big Billy Kinder Outdoors on WBAP, says a fresh wild turkey would be the perfect Christmas dinner.  You just have to find a place to hunt first.

“We don’t have an overabundance of public land in the State of Texas,” said Kinder.  “There are some turkeys on public land, but there are also a lot of quail hunters right now.  Those areas are really getting pounded, and those turkeys are getting pushed, and they’re getting pushed onto private property.”

He says there are great places to hunt all around the Metroplex, including the area west of Ft. Worth, and just north of DFW, in the  Caddo and LBJ National Grasslands.

Kinder says it’s also not that difficult to get started turkey hunting.  There is a wealth of free knowledge available online, and the equipment is not overly expensive.  First things first, though…make sure you get the safety education and training you need before you hit the field.
