Marlee McCormick 1/20/16; Should there be a time limit on family visits?

marlee mic shot 2First let me start by saying I had a great Christmas, my kids came home and I took a trip to Ohio to see my husband’s family. And while it was wonderful…I have to say I’m so glad to have my house and my life back! I’m sure many of you can share that same joy and relief.

How long is the proper stay when it comes to visiting family? Should there be a self imposed time limit? While visiting my in-laws, my mother in law and I were talking about them coming down to Texas to see us. I told her they should plan to stay a couple weeks so we could do some sightseeing and make a trip to San Antonio…a place she has always wanted to go. She quickly pointed out to me that was way to long to be gone and that she had a general rule that about three days was long enough for family visits. I quickly wondered if that also applied to my current visit and whether or not I was overstaying my welcome by one day…

You know she might be on to something. My fellow WBAP morning team member Steve Lamb only gives his out of town guests 48 hours! Unfortunately with my houseguest’s neither was an option. Three of my daughters are in college, when they came home for Christmas break it was for a month…and while I loved loved having them home, it was a lot…and I even got to split time with their dad. But I swear I could never keep my house clean while they were home and my normal routine was thrown all out of wack!

Now the chickadees are all safely back at school and my life is slowly returning to normal. Not sure my house will ever get cleaned, because I’m exhausted! Wonder if I could hang up a “No Vacancy” sign when they come home this summer?
