46 Year Old Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run of Child, Dallas Police Say

DALLAS — A 46-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run incident involving a child in southern Dallas, police said.

According to the Dallas Police Department (DPD), the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. on February 23. Three juveniles were walking in the center median of westbound 2200 W. Wheatland Road, near South Hampton Road. One of the juveniles stepped off the median into the far-left lane and was struck by a vehicle.

The driver, later identified as 46-year-old Jerome Walker, was behind the wheel of a silver extended-cab pickup and fled the scene without offering assistance, DPD reported.

Walker was arrested on February 26 and charged with collision involving serious bodily injury.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, though no further updates on their condition have been provided.
