Lester Holt Bids Prime Time America Goodbye

Longtime news anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News”, Lestor Holt, says he’s stepping away from the position at the start of this summer. Holt took over the show as prime time anchor in 2015, succeeding Brian Williams. Holt is 65 years old, but will continue as anchor of the news magazine show “Dateline”.

Executive Vice President of Programming at NBC News Janelle Rodriguez, praises Holt’s “steady and thoughtful leadership” during his decade on “Nightly News”, noting Holt helped the news show “sustain it’s trust and top news destination for millions of viewers across America”.

Holt also anchors “Nightly News: Kids Edition”, is the latest high-profile TV News personality to exit in recent months. In January, Norah O’Donnell signed off as “CBS Evening News” anchor to take on a new role at the network.

NBC has not annouced a successor to Holt’s position.
