(WBAP/KLIF) – DALLAS, TX – After the Dallas Mavericks traded superstar player Luka Doncic, rumors are going around that Kyrie Irving has requested to be traded to another team. Irving and Doncic were very close as teammates. The shooting guard has spoken very highly of Doncic ever since he joined the mavericks, and even considered him both a bother and part of his family.
After a viral tweet from NBA Centel stated that Irving had requested a trade from the Mavericks, some fans are wondering if the teams trading Luka Doncic is causing Irving to request a trade.
Irving still has a one-year, $43.9 million player option in 2025-26. the guard can opt out this summer and join another team, opt into the final year of his deal and extend it at that point, or because an unrestricted free agent in 2026-27.
