ABILENE, Texas — A 31-year-old man from Abilene was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography involving his friend’s 4-year-old son, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced.

Victor Van Taylor was charged in June 2024 and indicted the following month on a production of child pornography charge. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix handed down the 25-year sentence.

According to court documents, in June 2024, law enforcement uncovered a 26-second video on the dark web showing an adult man sexually assaulting a young child. Investigators later identified the man as Taylor.

When officers executed a search warrant at his home, they confronted Taylor with a screenshot from the video and asked if he had produced it. Taylor reportedly lowered his head and admitted to both creating the video and posting it online in exchange for other child exploitation material.

The child in the video was identified as the son of one of Taylor’s friends. The child’s mother told investigators that the assault likely occurred while Taylor was babysitting her son.

In addition to his prison sentence, Taylor will be required to register as a sex offender.
