Tragic, Anitoch High School Shooting: One Student Killed, One Injured

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – A tragic shooting at Antioch High School resulted in the loss of one student’s life and left another injured on Wednesday. The shooter, a 17-year-old identified as Solomon Henderson, is deceased.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:09 a.m. ET, as confirmed during a press conference by local authorities. Henderson, armed with a pistol, discharged multiple rounds in the school cafeteria.

According to police reports, Henderson arrived at school via bus before the shooting. Tragically, a 16-year-old student, Josselin Corea Escalante, lost his life. Another male student sustained a graze wound to his arm and is reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by the Metro Nashville Police Department. Earlier reports mistakenly identified the second injured student as female.

Additionally, one student sustained a facial injury but was not struck by gunfire. This individual is receiving medical attention at a local hospital and has since been released.

SWAT teams have completed a thorough sweep of the school building, ensuring there is no immediate threat.

Federal agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, and the FBI, are actively assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Students and their families have been directed to a reunification site located at 3654 Murfreesboro Pike, just under a mile from the school.
