Dallas, Texas – McDonald’s Corp. is scaling back its beverage-focused concept, CosMc’s, in Texas, less than a year after its debut.

On January 9, the fast-food giant announced plans to close three of its larger-format CosMc’s locations in Texas. Of the seven total CosMc’s locations, six are in Texas, with two in San Antonio and four in North Texas. Although McDonald’s has not specified which locations will close, at least one in North Texas is expected to shutter. Despite these closures, McDonald’s confirmed it will open two smaller-format CosMc’s locations in Texas later this year. These compact versions of the concept will serve as testing grounds for new products and operations, the company explained.

CosMc’s made its debut in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in March 2024, opening its first location at Preston Road and Campbell Road in North Dallas. The brand quickly expanded, announcing additional openings in Watauga and Arlington. A Fort Worth location followed on McPherson Boulevard, and another in Allen is still slated to open, according to CosMc’s website.

The concept focuses on a beverage-driven menu featuring customizable options like coffee, lemonades, tea, slushies, and energy drinks. While it doesn’t serve McDonald’s traditional burgers or fries, CosMc’s offers items like the Egg McMuffin and M&M McFlurry, along with exclusive offerings such as savory hashbrown bites and McPops—sweet-filled donut hole-like treats.
