Tesla Recalls Nearly 240,000 Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Issue

Tesla has issued a recall for approximately 240,000 vehicles due to a defect affecting the rearview camera, potentially compromising visibility and increasing the risk of accidents.

According to a filing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) last week, the recall applies to select Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles.

Issue Details

The recall documents indicate that a short circuit in the computer’s circuit board could result in the loss of the rearview camera image. This malfunction creates a significant visibility concern for drivers, potentially leading to hazardous situations on the road.

A total of 239,382 vehicles are included in the recall.

What Tesla Owners Need to Know

Tesla has already released a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to address the issue. Additionally, the company will identify vehicles that have experienced circuit board failures or are at risk of such failures. Affected hardware will be replaced at no cost to owners.

Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed on March 7, 2025. For further assistance, owners can contact Tesla’s customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla has designated this recall as SB-25-00-001.
