Widespread Flight Disruptions Reported at DFW International Airport
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) recorded the highest number of delayed and canceled flights in the United States on Sunday, highlighting significant travel disruptions.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, more than 40 flights experienced delays, according to data from FlightAware. The situation was even more severe for departing flights, with over 20 cancellations—representing approximately 5% of all scheduled departures. Incoming flights were equally impacted, as 70 arrivals were canceled and dozens more delayed, resulting in over 100 flights unable to land at DFW.
FOX 4’s Paige Ellenberger spoke with passengers who were directly affected by these disruptions. Yancy Perez, a traveler heading to Los Angeles, shared his frustrating experience.
“We waited six or seven hours before they told us we’d have to stay overnight,” Perez said. “It wasn’t the best experience. This morning, we’re trying to get back home. Hopefully, we can make it out in time.”
In contrast, Dallas Love Field faced relatively minimal issues, with only about 4% of flights delayed or canceled.
“This was by far the worst I’ve experienced,” Perez added.
The extensive delays and cancellations at DFW come as winter storms continue to impact travel across more than 20 states nationwide. Passengers are advised to check their flight status regularly and stay updated on changing conditions.
