FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A former Frisco police officer has been arrested for allegedly stealing from the police officers association he was a part of.
According to a news release, Colby Hill served as treasurer of the Frisco Police Officers Association.
Investigators are accusing the former sergeant and 12-year veteran of pilfering some of the funds but did not reveal how much money was allegedly stolen.
Hill resigned from the position August 7 and Frisco police launched an investigation. The Texas Rangers participated in the criminal probe.
Authorities subsequently issued an arrest warrant for theft by a public servant and hill turned himself in to the Collin County Sheriff’s office detention facility on October 3.
“To wear a badge as a police officer is a position of public trust. This former officer not only betrayed the trust of the community, but he also betrayed the trust of our FPD family. He stole money from his colleagues intended for benevolence and used it for his own personal gain. Hill should be held to account for his criminal actions, just as our community would expect for anyone who engages in such conduct,” said Chief David Shilson in a statement.
The Frisco Police Officers Association is an independent 501 (c)(3) organization and is unaffiliated with the City of Frisco.
