Denton Massage Parlor Suspected of Human Trafficking Closed Amid Investigation

DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The ongoing crackdown of North Texas massage parlors suspected of human trafficking continues. the latest closure is out of Denton.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation issued a six-month closure for Tao Spa on West University Drive.

According to a news release, an on-site inspection of the business in mid-September revealed provocatively-dressed employees who were not licensed massage therapists and an ATM inside the middle of the establishment.

The department said it also found online ads advertising sexual services offered at the establishment.

The TDLR shut down two massage parlors in Burleson suspected of human trafficking last month.

The closures are the result of House Bil 3579, which went into effect in September 2023.

The law allows TDLR’s executive director to issue an emergency order to shut down a massage establishment the agency or authorities believe human trafficking is occurring.
