Harris Blasts Proposals for Ukraine to Cede Territory to Russia During Zelenskyy Meeting

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris says calls for Ukraine to cede territory to Russia are “dangerous and unacceptable.” She spoke Thursday while meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington. The comments from the Democratic nominee for president are thinly veiled criticism of Republican candidate Donald Trump’s push for Ukraine to quickly cut a deal to end the war. Harris says: “They are not proposals for peace. Instead they are proposals for surrender.” Her comments were a reminder of the high stakes for the war effort in this year’s election. Trump says he will meet with Zelenskyy in New York on Friday.
