GRAND PRAIRIE WATER ADVISORY LIFTED

Grand Prairie – (WBAP/KLIF) The Grand Prairie water advisory has been lifted. However, everyone affected must now complete the water-flushing phase (or water-clearing process).

The city issued an order not to use the tap water on Tuesday and said the situation was caused by foam from a firefight in an industrial district in the 900 block of Avenue S.

At a Thursday evening press conference, Mayor Ron Jenson said the city has been working closely with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

“The test results were done down in Corpus, they got it from the TCEQ. We didn’t know what the results were until TCEQ called us and said ‘your clear.’ he said. “I am elated. It took a lot of work and flushing the water tower.”

Impacted residents are being told to open all water fixtures such as showers, bathtubs and sinks. Let hot water run for 15 minutes and cold water run for 5 minutes.

If the water still seems murky, the city advises residents to repeat the first two steps.

Grand Prairie ISD also has to go through the flushing steps. So classes are canceled on Friday and will reopen Monday.
