Fort Worth Police Investigating After Off-Duty Officer Shoots Man Following Attempted Hit-and-Run

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Fort Worth police are investigating an incident involving one of its officers this week.

The department said an off-duty officer called 911 around 4:06 p.m. on Tuesday to report a hit-and-run. The officer said someone in a red Ford F-150 hit his car on southbound I-35 west at Morningside Drive.

The officer followed the truck and told dispatch the driver was trying to ram his vehicle. He then said he fired several shots into the truck, according to a news release.

The altercation ended on the southbound service road on I-35 West at Bellvue Drive. Officers who responded to the scene found the truck driver had been shot several times.

The driver received medical treatment at the scene and was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer was not injured. Fort Worth police said they’ll release more details once they’re gathered and confirmed.
