Police Investigating the Drowning of Tarrant County First Grader

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Fort Worth police are investigating the recent drowning of a six-year-old child earlier this week.

It happened at a home in the 5800 block of Westgate Drive in the Marine Creek Ranch neighborhood of northwest Fort Worth around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police news release.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the child as Andrew Skinner.

Investigators said Andrew’s father told officers his son got outside through a dog door and went into the pool.

When officers arrived, he’d already been pulled from the water. Andrew was rushed to Cook Children’s Medical Center where he died.

Eagle Mountain ISD said he was a first grader at Parkview Elementary. The district had crisis counselors on hand Wednesday to help students and staff cope with the tragedy.
