CORSICANA (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The assistant principal at a Corsicana ISD school who was airlifted to a hospital after a “classroom disruption” involving a student last week is recovering at home, according to district officials.
Candra Rogers suffered the severe injury at Collins Intermediate School last Thursday.
According to a district statement last Friday, the incident happened in a classroom with less than 10 students. One student was taken into custody in connection to the altercation.
The district said Rogers joined CISD during the second semester last year as an assistant principal at Collins.
Her husband, Eugene Rogers, is in his first year as the Corsicana High School football coach.
CISD officials have not commented on the specific injury Candra Rogers suffered nor have they made any statements about her current condition.
For now, CISD Superintendent Stephanie Howell said they’re focused on Rogers healing and the safety of students and staff.
“Our prayers are with Mrs. Rogers and her family, but also the family of the student, those in the classroom at the time, and the entire Collins campus, our school district, and our community,” she said. “This has been an extremely upsetting and difficult situation as you might imagine, but we take the safety not only of our students, but also of our staff very seriously. Both remain a priority for Corsicana ISD.”
