Five Killed in Crash Along I-35W in Fort Worth, Suspected Drunk Driver Charged

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – First responders worked a deadly wreck along north bound I-35 West near Seminary Drive in Fort Worth early Monday morning.

Police said shortly after midnight, a black Camaro traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on I-35W rear-ended a sedan near the Seminary exit.

The collision forced the sedan into a wall and it caught on fire.

The driver of the Camaro, 19-year-old Eduardo Gonzalez, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.

MedStar said three adults and two children inside the sedan were killed. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identities of the victims once next-of-kin has been notified.

Gonzalez is charged with five counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.

The tragedy prompted Fort Worth police to issue a warning to North Texas drivers.

“This is a tragic incident that will no doubt impact our community and our department. The Fort Worth Police Department reminds the community to never drink and drive. If you assume a driver is impaired, don’t hesitate to call 911,” the statement read.
