(WBAP/KLIF) — After weeks of waiting and purchasing school supplies and back-to-school clothes, many North Texas families have arrived at the start of school. Nearly 150 North Texas school districts begin classes this week. As Dallas ISD parents accompanied their children to the first day of school at Preston Hollow Elementary school, cheerleaders and music welcomed students.
More than two dozen school districts began the school year Monday, including Dallas, Frisco, and Irving. Fort Worth, Carroll, Plano, Duncanville, Richardson, Royse City and Grand Prairie are among the nearly 30 school districts with their first day of school on Tuesday, while Grapevine-Colleyville, Coppell, Mesquite and Northwest are among the nearly 90 ISD’s starting on Wednesday.
As students make their way to school on buses, in cars, or by walking, TXDOT reminds motorists to be aware of kids before and after school within school zones, on the roadways, and crossing streets.
