The Texas Education Agency Has Released Results From the 20-24 STAAR Test

(WBAP/KLIF) – AUSTIN, TX – This year STARR test results showed that reading proficiency for students varied across different grade levels. While some grades demonstrated improvement, others saw a slight decline. Third, fifth, and eighth graders experienced a 2% decrease in reading proficiency. Reading scores of fourth graders rose by 3%. Sixth graders also saw in increase in reading proficiency by 4%.

The 2024 results also showed declining performance in both math and science across grade levels. Student performance in math has not recovered to pre-pandemic levels, making it clear that recovery will require a sustained effort to improve student outcomes.
