NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Heavy rain and thunderstorms created issues for drivers and first responders across the Metroplex Wednesday morning.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said 18-wheeler almost went over a downtown Dallas bridge. It happened along southbound Highway 75/I 345 near the Live Oak exit.
Fortunately, first responders were able to save the driver who was taken to a hospital for treatment. The crash caused heavy backups along the busy thoroughfare.
Elsewhere in Dallas, a man was almost swept away from highwater in White Rock Creek.
Dallas Fire Rescue said someone called 911 after hearing a man yelling for help near the 9301 Whistle Stop Place.
When crews arrived, they found him at the bottom of a 50-60 foot embankment near Jackson Branch.
The man sustained lower body, non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for much of the Metroplex until 8 a.m. Meanwhile, the overnight and early morning storms led to significant power outages for Oncor customers in Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hopkins and Van Zandt counties.
