A 17 year old is arraigned on several counts in the deaths of six people on Highway 67, the day after Christmas, 2023.
Luke Resecker was arraigned for six counts of Intoxication Manslaughter, two counts of Intoxication Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, and Possession of Marijuana. Bond was set at $50,000, which was posted, with the terms of monitored home confinement. Officials say Resecker was not medically fit to be booked into the Johnson County Jail, due to an ongoing medical condition.
The family had recently moved from Plano to Alpharetta, Georgia, and were in North Texas visiting others for the holidays. A family friend reported the family had been at the Glen Rose Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and were on their way home when the crash happened. Two children died in the crash.
Officials say Luke Resecker was driving south on US 67, south of Cleburne, when he drove into oncoming traffic and slammed into a van traveling north. Resecker was reported seriously injured; the survivor of the seven people inside the van he’s alleged to have driven into also received serious injuries. A passenger in Resecker’s vehicle was also reported seriously injured.
Only one person in the van in which six others died survived; 43 year old Lokesh Poatabathula.
