DALLAS, TX – (WBAP/KLIF) – On Wednesday the Dallas City Council called a specialty meeting to address affordable housing.
One proposal recommended changing the development code to allow for more triplexes and quad units in neighborhoods that only allow single family homes. Another called for lowering the minimum square footage for single family home lots.
The median price for a home in Dallas has increased 40% in the last four years. A recent study suggests Dallas is about 33,000 affordable houses short of their need, and if no action is taken the city could be short of 90,000 affordable homes by 20-30.
