WASHINGTON — House republicans helped push a measure through the House formally condemning the Biden Administration over the ongoing border crisis.

The mostly symbolic move puts blame on the White House in an election year over the ongoing crisis dealing with a continued surge of migrants at the southern border with Mexico.

This comes while lawmakers continue negotiation over a budget bill that includes measures attempting to improve border security.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says a contested security package could be ready for a vote as soon as next week. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was also optimistic about the impending legislation.

President Joe Biden convened top congressional leaders at the White House to press for the $110 billion package, which includes a potential landmark immigration deal that would unlock the stalled aid to Ukraine, Israel and other U.S. allies.
